Blues Tryouts/Evaluations

NOTE: Players with no or very little skating experience should NOT register for a Team Tryout/Evaluation. When the Beginner/Learn to Skate and Pre-Mite/Learn to Play registration opens in early April, please register your child for the Beginner/Learn to Skate or Pre-Mite/Learn to Play programs which start in early October.

See below for the dates, times and location for your age group. Each age group listed below has birthyears associated with them so parents know which age group ice sessions their child should attend. Players MUST attend the Tryout/Evaluation for their age/birthyear group. Players who show up for another age group will be asked to leave and not permitted to skate.

Pre-Registration for Evals via this website are required.

Evaluation Registration (FREE!) will open for 10U & 12U on 3/12. 14U & 18U after 10U & 12U complete.

Please try to attend both Evaluation dates but we recognize that players may have conflicts and request your child attends at least one date.

If your child can not attend either Evaluation date for an Empire/EAHC team, please register so we know your child will be registering for a Blues Team next season and pay attention to registration deadlines which will occur much earlier than last season to allow for earlier team announcement. This helps with our planning process this summer for ice time and jerseys. We want to make this process as stress free for parents and players as possible. The Blues strive to place every child fairly. If we have more than one team at your level and your child missed Evals this spring, coaches will evaluate them during the first ice sessions in September. Please note we use evaluations from your child's coach this season, the evaluation data this spring and (if needed) notes taken by the Coaches at the first ice sessions next September for placement.

Empire/EAHC Team registration will also begin shortly after the Evaluation conclusion and no teams will be publically announced although tentative team assignments will be sent to facilitate registration.

Empire/EAHC Teams 10U to 18U: We consider the Evaluation process to give us preliminary information on numbers and skill level. The 1st ice sessions after Registration completes will also give us additional information for Team Formation especially at the 8U and 10U levels where multiple teams are expected. Head Coaches for each Level will be announced as Coaching applications are being submitted now. If numbers allow, we may add more Head Coach announcements after Evals.

Birthyears 2020 and 2021: Register for the Pre-Mite/Learn to Play Program once Registration opens. 2020 who have completed one season of the Pre-Mite Program may register for the 8U Team Program.

Birthyears 2022 and 2023: Register for the Beginner/Learn to Skate Program

Birthyears 2018 & 2019: Register your child for the 8U Program if your child has completed a Learn to Skate Program. If your child needs more skating skills, parents will be notified to register for Pre-Mite/LTP or Beginners/LTS.

Birthyears 2014 thru 2017: Attend the 10U or 12U Evaluations depending on birthyear. If your child needs more skating skills, parents will be notified to register for Pre-Mite/LTP or Beginners/LTS.
